Celebrating his 28th birthday on Saturday, it was Yuvraj Singh's day all the way as he took three crucial Sri Lankan wickets and later smashed a blistering knock on his home ground that eventually helped India beat the visitors.
The Punjab player brought a full house PCA stadium alive when he restricted the islanders claiming three top batsmen --skipper Kumar Sangakkara, Chinthaka Jayasinghe and Chamara Kapugedera when they were going great guns.
Later, he joined his skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and punished the Lankan attack, raining sixes and fours. He wrapped up his unbeaten innings of 25-ball 60 by hitting a six to guide his side to victory.
As Yuvraj kept up the pressure on the Lankans, the crowd roared by forming the 'Mexican Wave'.
The inspiration for Yuvraj seemed to have come from none other than Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who had shortly before the start of the match wished the dashing left-hander on his birthday.
Bachchan, who was sitting in the studio, wished the dashing left-hander when he came out at the ground in Mohali.
"Yuvi, happy birthday to you. I hope you do even well," the mega star told Yuvraj.
Bachchan was present today in the studio on 'Extra Cover', a programme on NEO Cricket, which broadcasted the Twenty20 international.
Later at the night, the team was to cut a big cake to celebrate Yuvraj's birthday and the Indian win.
