Amol Karhadkar

chatted with some of the Indian players at the Twenty20 World Cup. Here’s what they had to say about the new experience.

Ajit Agarkar

On the inaugural World T20...

The Indian team is just bracing up to this for the Twenty20 matches.

On the free-hit rule...

It’s coming in the one-day matches as well (from October 1). Bowling no-ball is a crime anyways. You bowl an extra ball and then you have more chances of getting hit all over, then these power plays and free-hits, so you might as well not bowl one.

On bowling in Twenty20...

We will have to use slower deliveries or yorkers more, but it all depends on how much the batsman is going after us. It will depend on situations. Bowling a dot is like gold.

Irfan Pathan

On bowling in a T20 match...

It’s just four overs we have got, ab kya kya kar le (what can we really do). If the batsman is not getting after me, then I will not try anything. Just try and get away with it as quickly as possible. Try and stick to the plan, but if there’s pressure from the batsman then I have to get the variations.

On sharing the dressing room with his sibling...

I treat my brother Yusuf like any other teammate in the dressing room when it comes to discussing cricket.

On being sent back from the South African tour...

Those are memories, and I have forgotten both the good and the bad. so I am not thinking earlier things. It’s a fresh start and I want to do well.

Virender Sehwag

On his comeback to the Indian team...

I have enjoyed this break. It’s nice to be back and bat on these tracks, there’s not much to think or plan, just go there and play your shots. The crowd is there to enjoy, and so will I enjoy hitting the shots.
