Butt planning Altaf's ouster from PCB

Pakistan Cricket Board COO Saleem Altaf could be sacked by next week as PCB chairman Ejaz Butt is expected to pass a vote of no confidence against him in a governing council meeting.

Well placed sources in the PCB told PTI that Butt was expected by next week to make his move to oust Altaf.

"He has been in touch with the governing council members and wants them to pass a vote of no confidence against Altaf in similar fashion to how the council members ousted Shafqat Naghmi as COO last November," one source pointed out.

"...The relation between the two is showing no signs of improvement and Butt is aware that Altaf is also using his connections in the government to force a change in the chairmanship, all indications are that by next week Butt will try to get Altaf removed as COO," the source added.

"It is obvious Butt has lost confidence in Altaf as he believes the COO is working behind the scenes to get him ousted as chairman. Altaf on the other hand is frustrated that Butt is taking decisions unilaterally without consulting his main officers and plunging the board into more crisis," he added.
