Change of gear: Dhoni dons boxing gloves

It could be the chill on Monday morning. Even after a batting session, a prolonged fielding spell with Paddy Upton and having a bowl, India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni seemed not warmed up enough. He headed straight for the indoor hall at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium for a 20-minute boxing session with physical trainer Ramji Srinivasan.

Looking very comfortable in a different pair of gloves, he took good stance and showed great footwork to land a series of punches on the sparring pads the physical trainer held up for him.

Dhoni does this quite often to keep himself fit.

Incidentally, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly trained with a kick-boxing expert when he was left out of the team and subsequently made a comeback.

Unconventional training routines seem to work for India skippers.
