Cricket Australia (CA) has slammed its own players for alleging that it has not backed them to the hilt and bowed to the might of Board of Control for Cricket in India on various issues this summer.

Australian players are reportedly furious with CA reprimanding opener Matthew Hayden for calling Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh an "obnoxious little weed".

"We have supported the players getting a $1 million pay cheque in India in the IPL," a CA official was quoted as saying in the

Daily Telegraph.

"We have done all the work there to get that going. And not one cent of that comes back to us or to grassroots cricket. We don't hear anything about that," he said.

The officials said Ricky Ponting regularly attended CA board meetings, and often expressed his thanks and appreciation for the work the governing body does.

"We have a broader responsibility than just to the (CA contracted) players," an official said.
