Sunday saw two nail-biting thrillers unfold in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for North Zone at Palam. While Delhi sneaked past fighting Haryana on the last ball, Services caused a major upset by upstaging Punjab on the penultimate ball of the match.
Set a target of 147 by Haryana, Delhi openers Chetan Sharma and Punit Bisht put up 41 runs for the opening stand, but the team lost way in the middle overs, losing four wickets in quick succession. Rajat Bhatia, however, chipped in with 39 runs, studded with a boundary and a six.
Nevertheless, Delhi were looking down the barrel in the last over, needing 12 runs to win. But Sangwan eventually held his nerve and smacked a six to seal the match.
Earlier, Haryana posted a decent total of 146, thanks largely to Sunny Singh's 38-ball 74.
In other match, Punjab were upset by Services. Punjab put up a mediocre 133, but had Services on the mat at 69 for seven. However, a late charge from Ritesh Negi, who scored 40 off 31 balls, turned the match in his teams favour.
