"The team led by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the best team in the history of Indian cricket and is capable of winning the test series in New Zealand," Pataudi who is popularly known as "Tiger Pataudi" told reporters here yesterday.

Pataudi along with his noted actress wife Sharmila Tagore and other family members arrived here for taking part in a private function and also to resolve the vexed property disputes.

To a question he said it would be better if the team members instead of playing for personal records, plays for the nation and in that case it would be difficult for any team to beat Dhoni's men.

However, he said that the performance of the team is good and is appearing to get more better.

On the issue of condition of hockey in the country, he said that politics is responsible for it and added that as long as political interference did not stop, the game will not be able to revive at the national level.

Pataudi said that only players can improve the situation of hockey in the country by not coming under any pressure and keeping their morale high for better performance.
