As Yusuf Pathan walked back to the changing room after a grueling nets session, before the commencement of the NKP Challenger Trophy at Rajkot, he had a security official helping him carry a kit bag. But away from this larger-than-life Pathan, there is a man who cannot wait to don the India colours again.
And being away from the Indian dressing room after having been a part of two World Cup triumphs can be demoralising. But then like a double-edged sword, it could prove to be the spark needed to inspire another rise.
"Obviously it is disappointing and it hurts to not to be a part of the team but then I can only perform. I am sure that with the way I'm working hard, I will be back into the national team," Pathan told HT.
