Highlight Story

As India and West Indies were getting ready to face off on Monday afternoon, a Gujarat selector, Lalit Patel, was arrested in his room at the Gujarat Sports Club — housed in the building that also has the dressing rooms — for getting drunk.

Gujarat being a dry state, he, along with others, was taken into custody.

Unconfirmed reports had it that some members of the Gujarat Ranji Trophy squad too were arrested.

The action is also being seen as a fallout of “the police not being given adequate complimentary passes for the ODI”.

GCA official, Rajesh Patel, feigned ignorance on the issue.
