When it comes to batsmen in Vidarbha, no body could be as elegant as Faiz Fazal.

The southpaw has been one of the consistent performers for the Central Zone team and stays in the top run-getters.

Additionally, he also bowls gentle medium pacers and plays an important role as a breakthrough bowler for Vidarbha.

Fazal represented India U-19 as a youngster but moved to Railways for a brief two-year period. After he couldn’t do much for the Railway men he shifted back to Vidarbha and has been a permanent fixture in the set up.

His selection came as a result of performances in Indian domestic cricket.

In the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2015-16, Fazal made 312 runs at an average of 52 in seven innings, and in the 20-over Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy he scored 205 runs at a strike rate of 102 in nine innings.Fazal scored 559 runs in 8 matches including two centuries. His performance earned him a call up for the Rest of India in the Irani Trophy and scored a 127 against Mumbai in the Irani Cup.

Fazal has earlier represented Rajasthan Royals in the IPL but he missed the current edition. As a result, Fazal, 30, is the only player in the Indian squad travelling to Zimbabwe without a current IPL contract.
