Imagine a match where a ‘Tower’ comes to bowl, a ‘Nariyal’ is standing at the long on, a ‘Chops’ telling a ‘Darshi’ to come a little forward and a ‘Jannu’ or ‘Bishtu’ is behind the wicket. And then, there is the ‘Brain’ behind the whole experiment.
These are the nicknames given to the Delhi players currently practicing at St. Stephens, Mori Gate in the ongoing Ranji camp. Ishant Sharma, standing tall at 6’4’’, is the ‘Tower’ of the team while Aakash Chopra is ‘Chops’.
So just what prompted this rather novel idea? For the answer, look no further than the ‘Brain’, coach Vijay Dahiya. “This is just for fun, we as a team are a very happy bunch and this is just another experiment, nothing serious about it,” he said.

Wicketkeeper Rahul Yadav is ‘Jannu’ for his friendly nature; medium-pacer Parwinder Awana is ‘Param’ for he opens the bowling while Chetanya Nanda is ‘Nando’s’ for his love of the chain of restaurants.
