Four persons who were allegedly found betting on Indian Premier League (IPL) matches have been arrested by police in Lucknow.
Vikas Gupta, Ashish Kumar Sahu, Mahesh Kumar Kashyap and Sandeep Srivastava were arrested from a hideout in Ashiyana colony on Sunday, police said on Monday.
The accused have been betting on IPL matches, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brijlal said.
He said Rs 52,000 cash, 11 mobile phones, a TV set and notebooks carrying details of betting business were recovered from their possession.
"An accused Vikas Gupta told police that while the head of the racket were based in Delhi and Mumbai, they were working as bookies in Lucknow," the ADG said.
He said that besides cricket, the racket was also into betting on sensex.
