Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev have been named to the greatest Test team ever, chosen by over 250,000 fans across the world.
The fans voted the final XI on the International Cricket Council's (ICC) website, making their choices from a shortlist of 60 provided by the ruling body for the game. The poll was conducted to mark the 2000th Test, to be played between India and England at Lord’s.
Four Australians, two West Indians and one Pakistan player make it to the list, which clearly reflects that the choices were made by younger fans as many all-time greats are missing."Selecting from such greats is no easy job, and not surprisingly, the selection mainly reflects modern players seen by present day supporters," ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat said. "There are many greats from the past who would have easily merited selection in this team, but it is nevertheless interesting to see the fans' view on their greatest eleven of all time."
"It would have been quite special to see this team take the field of play given."
