Hasan Ali, Pakistan right-arm pacer, has been a vital member in the team’s recent ODI resurgence in 2017. The 23-year-old has displayed remarkable consistency to become the new No.1 ranked ODI bowler in the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Hasan has moved up six places to become the fifth bowler at the top of the ODI rankings this year after Trent Boult, Imran Tahir, Kagiso Rabada and Josh Hazlewood.

In the rankings, AB de Villiers has once again grabbed the top position for ODI batsmen after his career-best 176 against Bangladesh in Paarl while Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has displaced Shakib Al Hasan from the top spot for ODI all-rounders.

The right-arm pacer has taken 43 wickets in 17 games in ODIs in 2017 and was the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. His haul of 13 wickets in five games was crucial in Pakistan winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 for the first time and complete the set.

In the current series against Sri Lanka, Hasan picked up 5/34 in the third ODI in Abu Dhabi and in the process, became the fastest Pakistan bowler to 50 ODI wickets, beating the previous mark set by Waqar Younis.

Hasan Ali has also enjoyed a great run in his last eight ODIs. Starting from the South Africa ODI in Birmingham in the ICC Champions Trophy, Hasan’s figures till the match in Sharjah against Pakistan have been 3/24,3/43,3/35,3/19,3/36,1/32,5/34 and 3/37.

Pakistan have taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series and in the fourth ODI in Sharjah, they bowled out Sri Lanka for 173.
