I was expecting the call: Badrinath

As Subramaniam Badrinath sat in the living room of his expansive flat in the suburbs of Chennai on Friday evening, he was happy for more than one reasons.
Having “come home after a while”, thanks to a five-day break for the Chennai Super Kings was a reason good enough for him to celebrate.
But more importantly, he had finally achieved his goal of regaining his place in the national squad after he was dumped from the ODI squad after being given just three opportunities in 2008.
But being the hard worker and the focussed cricketer that he is, Badri emerged as the highest scorer in the Ranji Trophy last year and then carried on in the same vein during the IPL to force the selectors to pick him for the West Indies tour.
"I was expecting it, to be honest. I have been playing well and there has been a lot of news around that I will be selected," Badrinath told HT. "But as long as the news is not officially out, you are not sure. So I am happy that I have made it to the ODI squad after three years."
Happy days are here again for Badrinath.
It’s time for him to show it to the world that he has graduated to the highest level, albeit a little late than even he would have liked.
