Banned batsman Mohammad Yousuf is baffled as to why the Pakistan Cricket Board is asking him to severe ties with ICL to be considered for national selection when the rebel Twenty20 league has never stopped him from playing for the country.

"I don't understand why the Chairman of the Pakistan cricket Board is insisting that if I leave the ICL I will be considered for Pakistan selection again.

"But I can tell you this clearly if I am required to play for Pakistan and the ICL people say that I cannot play for my country, I will have no second thoughts about ending my association with them," Yousuf said.

The prolific batsman, who was banned by the PCB after he joined the ICL last year, has also appealed to President and PCB patron Asif Zardari to intervene and help ICL players.

Appearing on the Geo super channel, Yousuf said the ICL has never stopped him from playing for Pakistan.

"For me even today playing for Pakistan is the biggest honour because whatever I am today is because of my country," he said.
