India have been asked to follow-on in the first Test against Sri Lanka after the team lost all wickets for 276 runs in response to Sri Lanka's 520-8 declared.

Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan took five wickets to force India in this situation. On Tuesday, Muralitharan dismissed Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (33) and Yuvraj Singh (52).

India's Virender Sehwag struck an aggressive 109 to notch his 20th test century before being caught by Tharanga Paranavitana at slip off seamer Chanaka Welegedara. He faced 118 balls, with 19 fours and a six.
