World Cup champions India have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their final against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium here Saturday. Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was fined 20% of his match fee while the players were docked 10%.

“Match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the fine after India was ruled to be one over short of its target at the end of the match," the ICC said in a statement.

“The penalty was accepted by India without contest.”
