15:50 hrs IST: England’s day has just gone from bad to worse. Haseeb Hameed, who hit two fifties in three Tests, has been ruled out of the remainder of the series due to a fractured left finger. He did not come out to bat on day 2 and was seen practicing in the nets.

15:42 hrs IST: Here are some of the quotes from the post-match presentation

Ravindra Jadeja (Man of the Match): There was nothing for spinners. I was just looking to bowl in the right areas and not to give them boundaries

Virat Kohli: None of the pitches have been turners. We’ve been playing very good cricket and gaining confidence. I was surprised by the cheer after winning the toss to be honest. You still have to go out there and play good cricket. That motivated us actually to show that the toss doesn’t matter for this team. For Jayant Yadav to have that kind of maturity, he’s been a revelation

Alastair Cook: After getting bowled out for 280, you don’t win too many games in this part of the world. Haseeb Hameed has to go home unfortunately and have a plate put in his hand. Frustrating not to cross 300 of late

15:33 hrs IST: Virat Kohli’s unbeaten streak continues. He is yet to lose a Test as skipper at home while he is yet to lose a series as captain. These are great times for Indian cricket. For England, nothing went right after they won a toss but threw the advantage away.

15:29 hrs IST: Parthiv has sealed the game in style. Batty tosses the delivery up and the left-hander chips it to the deep extra cover fence for a boundary. India have thrashed England by eight wickets in Mohali and they now take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five-Test series with two matches to go.

15:21 hrs IST: India need just 10 runs now to go 2-0 up in the series. It has been a fabulous performance.

15:17 hrs IST: WICKET! Cheteshwar Pujara departs for 25. Flighted ball from Rashid and Pujara looks to sweep, he gets a top edge and Root moves to his left at short fine leg to take the catch.

15:13 hrs IST: India need less than 20 runs to clinch the Test and go 2-0 up. It has been a splendid knock from Parthiv Patel.

15:04 hrs IST: Parthiv is in a hurry to finish this Test match. He gets to the pitch of the ball and launches it over wide long on for a six. Next ball, he cuts a short ball to deep point to bring up his fifth Test fifty. Wonderful knock. India need 29 more to win. Catch all live scores here

15:01 hrs IST: In the air but safe! Rashid gets this legbreak to break back in sharply, Parthiv late cuts it over Stokes at slips and it goes to the third man fence, Stokes puts in a valiant effort but fails to stop it.

14:58 hrs IST: Parthiv Patel uses the ramp shot brilliantly and he nears his fifty. His strike-rate is over 100. India inch closer. Catch all live scores here

14:54 hrs IST: India’s run-rate is well over four but they will be wanting to quicken their scoring rate. Light could be a factor as the day progresses.

14:50 hrs IST: Light is a concern at the moment in Mohali. It is fading away quickly. India will want to wrap this up in the next 40 minutes.

14:44 hrs IST: Stokes is bowling short and not giving the batsmen any easy runs. However, it could be too little too late.

14:35 hrs IST: In the next ball, Parthiv uses the pace and width to glide a short ball to the third man fence. India need 63 more for victory. Catch all live scores here

14:33 hrs IST: We are back for the final session and there is immediately an appeal for an LBW. Parthiv Patel the batsman. England review. Inside edge and thus the decision stays.

14:16 hrs IST: That is Tea and India have moved to 33/1, needing another 70 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

13:58 hrs IST: That is a brilliant delivery from Anderson. He puts in the effort and gets this delivery to rise up sharply close to the off stump, Pujara drops his wrists at the right time and the ball just misses the glove, Anderson appealed for the catch but there was no glove.

13:38 hrs IST: WICKET! Anderson is run-out. Hameed wanted a second run and Anderson was a bit too slow in responding, Jadeja fires a rocket throw at the bowler’s end and Ashwin just palms it at the stumps to catch Anderson short. This has been a fighting partnership but India need 103 to go 2-0 up in the series.

12:38 hrs IST: Woakes helps himself to another boundary by sweeping Ashwin to the deep square leg fence. England’s lead has crossed 50. India under control but they will want to break this partnership as soon as possible.

12:34 hrs IST: Only two overs left for the new ball to be taken. Will Virat Kohli take it? Ashwin seems to be struggling for rhythm while Jadeja is not causing too much comfort to the two batsmen.

12:30 hrs IST: Woakes helps himself to another boundary. He has outscored Hameed. Don’t forget, this guy can bat.

12:27 hrs IST: Haseeb and Woakes are slowly building a partnership. In this match, the tail-enders have overshadowed the top order. Maybe, the era has come to flip the batting?

09:19 hrs IST: A warm welcome to day 4 of the third Test between India and England from Mohali. India are six wickets away from taking a 2-0 lead in the series. With the pitch assisting Ravichandran Ashwin, it is only a matter of time before England are rolled over.

Ravichandran Ashwin will be a much feared man in the England camp. The off-spinner struck thrice in the final session on Monday to break the back of England’s top order. Joe Root’s caliber as the world’s No. 1 batsman will be tested today. He will start at his overnight score of 36.

England’s top order batting flopped once again on Monday. Skipper Alastair Cook survived two reviews but could not capitalise, Ashwin pushing a delivery through the England captain’s defence to bowl him for 12.

Cook moved past former Australia captain Steve Waugh to become the 10th highest run-scorer in Test cricket but it was a small consolation on a day when his team struggled on the field.
