India’s batting failed to get going and was bundled out for 101 in the first of the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka in Pune on Tuesday.

In the face of a disciplined bowling display by Sri Lanka on a pitch that had something in it for the bowlers, debutant Kasun Rajitha and medium pacer Dasun Shanaka took three wickets apiece.

Sachithra Senanayake and Dushmantha Chameera chipped in with one wicket and two wickets, respectively.

The Indian batsmen failed to read the pace of the pitch, mistiming shots and falling leg before trying to hit across the line. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane perished in the first over, offering catches off mistimed shots.

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was the highest scorer, hitting 31 off 24.
