Shikhar Dhawan’s first T20 international half-century and useful knocks from Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina and Hardik Pandya helped India post a total of 196/6 in the second T20 against Sri Lanka in Ranchi on Friday.

OUT! KAPUGEDERA HOLES OUT! Floated delivery outside off, Kapugedera looks to slam it straight down the ground. He gets the height but not the distance. Pandya keeps his eyes on the ball as he charges in from long on and takes a sharp catch. Jadeja gets his first wicket.

OUT! ASHWIN STRIKES! Tossed up delivery around middle and off, Dilshan looks to drive it towards the off side but gets beaten completely. He was outside the crease as well and Dhoni behind the stumps was quick enough to whips the bails off in a jiffy. Well, the skipper doesn’t appeal unless and until he is sure. Replays show Dilshan was spotted outside. Dilshan fails in his comeback as he goes for a golden duck. India off the a great start.

Dhawan and Sharma were off to a flier, taking the total to 70 for no loss before they were pegged back by the Sri Lankans. The run rate began to dip when Sharma (43) and Ajinkya Rahane (25) departed, but Raina (30) and Pandya (27) provided some much-needed acceleration towards the end.
Thisara Perera took a hat-trick in the 19th over, dismissing Pandya, Raina and Yuvraj Singh in the last three deliveries of the over. Sachithra Senanayake and Dushmantha Chameera chipped in with one wicket and two wickets apiece.
Sri Lanka won the first of the three-match series in Pune on Tuesday. The third and final match is in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
