With India out of the World Cup, the price of its replica jersey has fallen from $40 to $20.
With the reduced price, it is likely that the strong Indian community will make additional purchases of the jersey to keep it as souvenir or to store it away for future India-West Indies matches in Port-of-Spain.
A spokesman for Trinidad and Tobago's premier sporting store, Sports and Games, said the price of replica jersey of the West Indies team remains the same though it has been eliminated from the tournament. The official said price reduction on the West Indies jersey might be considered after the World Cup finishes April 28.
However, the price for cricket hats for all the teams has been reduced to $10 from $16.
The Indian diaspora in Trinidad and Tobago - about 45 per cent of a population of 1.3 million - feels let down by the performance of the Indian cricketers after waiting for them with great expectation for so long.
Whenever the Indian cricket team comes to play in these parts, principally in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, thousnds of Indian origin families are seen at the matches. They seem to think that with their presence, the invisible link between Mother India and their country of adoption is rekindled, and it become more visible.
