South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis suffered an injury to his rib and would be out of action for at least 15 days after this Test. "He has suffered a contusion to his rib area and a muscle strain. He will bat in the second innings but will need at least 15 days to recover from the injury to him," said South Africa Team manager Mohammed Mossajee.

That puts Kallis out of at least the first two ODIs that will follow the Test series. He suffered the injury while batting in the first innings.

Kallis, however, was delighted with his superb knock. "It's really satisfying to score in trying conditions and be tested against the best. That way this knock was very satisfying," said Kallis.
