IPL 2019 CSK vs SRH: Numbers reveal why MS Dhoni and team are overwhelming favourites
Dhoni’s brigade are now back home and will face Sunrisers Hyderabad. If we look at the numbers, the form and record of CSK in their home territory has been exceptional.
Despite the heroics of MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings lost the last match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore by a margin of one run. They are no longer number 1 on the points table as Delhi Capitals, after the win against Rajasthan Royals, have taken up the spot.
However, Dhoni’s brigade are now back home and will face Sunrisers Hyderabad. If we look at the numbers, the form and record of CSK in their home territory has been exceptional. They have won their last six matches at the venue. Not only this, Sunrisers Hyderabad have not fared too well at Chepauk - they have lost the last two matches played at Chepauk.

Also, SRH have won only once in their last 5 encounters against CSK in IPL, which came earlier in this season.
The sluggish nature of the surface in Chennai will assist the spinners and hence, SRH could fancy their chances. For CSK it will be a straight swap between Shardul Thakur and Harbhajan Singh and the offie could be a threat against David Warner.
“We played on Chennai tracks which were difficult to find form on. It was tough to keep the momentum. So, we train well on the grounds that we’ve gone to, to see if they’re faster or more friendly batting conditions. But it’s just getting a little bit of form back. You can’t try too hard, so it’s very hard to try and deliver messages when on the one hand the game, we’ve got to be positive and aggressive and take calculated risks, coach Stephen Fleming said about the pitch on offer.
