India ‘A’ bowlers polished off the South Africa ‘A’ middle order with regular strikes to leave the hosts struggling at 312 for nine at stumps on day three of the unofficial first Test in Rustenberg on Monday.
Seamer Ishwar Pandey, the leading wicket-taker in the last Ranji season, scalped four wickets. Suresh Raina bagged two bowling his occasional off-spin.
Pandey saw off Simon Harmer (22), Justin Ontong (47), Thami Tsolekile (47) and Wayne Parnell (0).
The other bowlers deployed by captain Cheteshwar Pujara too made an impression, leaving the hosts trailing by 270 runs at stumps.
Resuming at the overnight score of 20 for one, South Africa ‘A’ had an early setback as Shami Ahmed struck in the third over of the day, having opener Dean Elgar trapped in front.
