On Thursday evening at Kingsmead, long after the hurly burly had been done and South Africa deposited in the bin, the adrenalin lingered.

There was laughter and good-natured ribbing in the Blue corner, and huge dollops of infectious enthusiasm. Bouncing around on tireless legs was a fledgling India — an India without the talismanic trinity of Sachin, Sourav and Dravid, but looking far from lost in their absence.

Aussie coach Tim Nielsen says "young India" have the edge in today's semifinal. That's probably not true — there's every possibility our young bunch will find themselves out of depth against the world's best side.

But it does not matter. No one who has seen our boys in this tournament can have any doubt that they will throw everything they've got at Oz. And that is all that matters.

Said Graeme Smith: "These young guys are exciting... If they carry on like this, they will do well." God willing, they will.
