The Mohammad Kaif-led Central Zone will fancy their chances against South Zone when the two teams meet in the semifinal of the Duleep Trophy here on Tuesday.

The slight edge stems from the fact that Central Zone have advanced after playing a quarterfinal match, unlike South, who will be playing their first match of the season.

Central got an opportunity to bring out their best against East, which saw Kaif score a double century.

Apart from the skipper’s fine knock, Suresh Raina and Parvinder Singh too come into the match with impressive performances under their belts.

The bowling, too, appears balanced with a good mix of pacers and spinners. While RP Singh, Pankaj Singh and Umesh Yadav will be the players to watch out for as far as the pace department goes, spinner Piyush Chawla will be leading the spin department.

South Zone, too, have some big names in their ranks. While Robin Uthappa, Manish Pandey, C. Ganapathy and skipper S. Badrinath will shoulder the batting responsibilities, the bowling is manned by Abhimanyu Mithun and R. Vinay Kumar from Karnataka.
