Kenya captain Jimmy Kamande says its disappointing that Associate nations didn't get more support for the World Cup ambitions from the likes of Ricky Ponting.

Kamande told reporters Saturday that although he understands that his team needs to keep improving, "what is disappointing is someone like Ricky Ponting saying that the Associates don't need to be here."

Kenya, World Cup semifinalist in 2003, plays Zimbabwe in its last Group A match at the Eden Gardens on Sunday after losing its five previous matches, including against Canada.

Australia captain Ponting has backed the ICC's decision to reduce the World Cup from 14 to 10 for the next edition.
