Gautam Gambhir was unequivocal after Sunday’s match. “I certainly prefer playing away games,” he said in the post match conference. After Anil Kumble lashed out at the wicket last Sunday, Gambhir was asked to rate the track after this Sunday’s game.

“You’ve seen the wicket. It is not easy to bat on it. In Twenty20 cricket, you want wickets where you can play shots. One that is good for both bowlers and batsmen. Wickets like the ones in Bangalore and Kolkata are good . You can play shots there. T20 cricket is about hitting fours and sixes. This (the Kotla) is a wicket where you have to graft,” said Gambhir.

Piyush Chawla, who picked up two wickets, however, had no problems. “Well, I got wickets and bowled well. So I have no complaints.”
