Unbeaten so far, a formidable Australia will take on giant-killers Sri Lanka in what could turn out to be an interesting Super Six clash of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in Mumbai on Sunday.
Buoyed by the two-run victory over defending champions England in the previous game, five-time champions Australia will go in with their tails up against an unpredictable Sri Lanka.
Australia’s pacers would look to rip through the batting order of their lesser fancied opponents, though their own form with the bat has been a concern.
The teams have met twice in the past with Australia winning on both the occasions. But Sri Lanka, who had never defeated England or India prior to its league matches in the World Cup, would like to bounce back from their loss against New Zealand and continue their dream run.
SA face England
Cuttack: In a desperate bid to stay in hunt for a semi-final berth, the Charlotte Edwards-led England side will go all out against South Africa in a do-or-die at the Barabati Stadium here on Sunday.
Both teams need to win this encounter to stay alive in the tournament and England will certainly start as favourites against South Africa who haven’t done anything worth taking a note of.
England lost to Australia by two runs while West Indies beat South Africa by two wickets in their respective Super Six games.
