The last time Sri Lanka, the hot favourites, faced Canada, who could well be making their last appearance at the grand event, the match lasted just 140 balls. After bowling out Canada for 36, the lowest score in the World Cup history, Sri Lanka romped home in no time.
But that was eight years ago. As both teams had their last session before their opening Group A encounter at the picturesque Mahindra Rajapakse International Cricket Stadium, the memories of the 2003 encounter were blurred.
Though four survivors from the 2003 Sri Lankan squad would have that rout fresh in their minds, Canada skipper Ashish Bagai, along with veteran John Davison, had wiped off those memories.
