Stylish middle order batsman VVS Laxman on Thursday said he is disappointed for not being included in India's one-day team for the upcoming tri-series in Australia.
"I am disappointed that I am not part of the one-day side. But I am looking forward to do well in both forms of the game and whenever the selectors feel that I will fit into the scheme of the things, I will be more than happy to play my role," said Laxman.
"It is a great opportunity for a lot of youngsters to do well. Playing against Australia in Australia is a great challenge," he said.
Talking about the recently-concluded Test series against Australia, Laxman said he is disappointed that India lost the series.
"Overall, I think the result was a little disappointing. We went with a goal of winning the series but we lost it. It was disappointing. But I am proud with the way we all played there, especially after the Sydney Test, the way we played in Perth and the Adelaide Tests. I think it is very satisfying," he said.
Laxman felt that India had actually dominated the Test series though the result did not actually show that.
Asked about his individual performance, Laxman said he was very satisfied for being able to do well against Australia, the world champions, that too in tough situations.
"I am satisfied with the performances. I am satisfied with the consistency I showed throughout the series. Some of the knocks I played in tough situations were very satisfying," he said.
Replying to a query, Laxman expressed happiness that he delivered the goods this time round too.
"I have always done well against them. Right from under-19 days, I have done consistently well. It's very satisfying when we get runs against the tough opponents and the best in the world, especially in tough situations. I was pleased that I was able to do that this time round.
"It is always a challenge playing against a very good bowling line up. I always enjoyed playing against them," he said.
