Dean Elgar’s seventh Test fifty was the only saving grace for South Africa as England dominated day 2. Barring Elgar’s fifty, Theunis de Bruyn and Temba Bavuma stitched a solid stand but Stuart Broad’s two wickets and Moeen Ali’s twin strikes reduced South Africa to 214/5, still trailing by 244 runs.
