Over in Melbourne, David Warner has completed his seventh century in 2016 in ODIs, the most by an Australian.

11:25 hrs IST: India took the new ball after 120 overs. It might have been a late call. With both batsmen settled, England are closing in on 400. Buttler walked across the stumps and flicked a full ball to fine leg. Had he missed it, he was gone. England 383/8.

10:41 hrs IST: Doesn’t matter. Why? Why would a batsman leave a straight ball from Jadeja? Adil Rashid did it and he is cleaned up.

Flat and straight delivery on a good length on off stump, Rashid leaves it on length, thinking the extra bounce would take it over the stump, fatal mistake, the ball clips the off bail and he has to depart

10:04 hrs IST: Over in Melbourne, David Warner and George Bailey have steadied the ship after losing a couple of wickets.

10:01 hrs IST: India opt for the review against Buttler. Jadeja pushes the slider and Buttler plays back to miss it, India appeal but the umpire is unmoved, Kohli belatedly takes the review and the ball is just clipping leg stump. It is the umpire’s call and since it is not out, the decision stays.

Ben Stokes c Virat Kohli b R Ashwin 31, England 297/6

Ben Stokes started off aggressively on day 2 of the Wankhede Test against India. (BCCI)

09:38 hrs IST: England are looking to show more intent on the second day. They are employing the sweep and charging down the track to the spinners. Ashwin is using the carrom ball to flummox them and he nearly gets Buttler.

09:35 hrs IST: Despite the perils, Stokes is backing himself. He latches onto the full and flat ball from Jadeja and he slog sweeps it to the deep mid wicket fence.

09:33 hrs IST: In the air but safe! Ben Stokes tries to sweep Ashwin but the extra bounce in the wicket results in a top edge, it goes to backward square leg but it falls in front of the fielder.

09:18 hrs IST: Over in Melbourne, Australia, who are gunning for a 3-0 sweep off New Zealand, have been jolted twice by Trent Boult. Follow live updates of the match here.

09:15 hrs IST: There are some rough areas around the off stump but the pitch will still have some good bounce.

09:12 hrs IST: A warm welcome to the second day of the fourth Test between India vs England from the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. It was the Ravichandran Ashwin master-class on show as he picked up four wickets to rock England. Ben Stokes holds the key for the visitors if they are to get past 350-400.

England were rather wasteful on the opening day. After Keaton Jennings struck a brilliant hundred on his Test debut and Moeen Ali scored a quick 50, Virat Kohli summoned his trusted general Ravichandran Ashwin.

The off-spinner obliged by picking up Moeen and Jennings in three balls in the first over of his new spell.

Moeen fell on 50, top-edging a sweep, while Jennings got an edge to second slip to end an innings that contained 13 fours.

Ashwin also dismissed Jonny Bairstow for 14 as England stalled, losing three wickets for the addition of 19 runs.

With the Wankhede wicket already spinning, Kohli may not be too late in asking Ashwin and Jadeja to do the honours. Stokes and Buttler will have a fight on their hands.
