There is drama ahead of the India cricket team selection for the one-off Test match against Bangladesh cricket team in New Delhi today. Relive all highlights of the selection meeting here.

7:40 pm IST: Abhinav Mukund makes a comeback after more than five years while Parthiv Patel misses out for the Bangladesh Test against India.

7:13 pm IST: The national selectors have also named a squad for the three-day (Feb. 16-18) practice match against Australia. The squad is: 1. Hardik Pandya (Captain), 2. Akhil Herwadkar, 3. Priyank Kirit Panchal, 4. Shreyas Iyer, 5. Ankit Bawne, 6. Rishabh Pant, 7. Ishan Kishan (WK), 8. Shahbaz Nadeem, 9. Krishnappa Gowtham, 10. Kuldeep Yadav, 11. Navdeep Saini, 12. Ashok Dinda, 13. Mohammed Siraj, 14. Rahul Singh, 15. Baba Indrajith.

7:12 pm IST: Full India squad for one-off Test vs Bangladesh is: 1. Virat Kohli (Captain), 2. Murali Vijay, 3. KL. Rahul, 4. Cheteshwar Pujara, 5. Ajinkya Rahane, 6. Karun Nair, 7. Wriddihiman Saha (WK), 8. R. Ashwin, 9. Ravindra Jadeja, 10. Jayant Yadav, 11. Umesh Yadav, 12. Ishant Sharma, 13. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 14. Amit Mishra, 15. Abhinav Mukund, 16. Hardik Pandya.

6:55 pm IST: Abhinav Mukund is a left-handed batsman. He has played in five Test matches, scored 211 runs at an average of 21.10. Highest score is 62. Last Test played against England in Nottingham July 29-August 1, 2011.

6:52 pm IST: Tamil Nadu opener Abhinav Mukund makes a comeback after almost six years. He went on the tour of England and failed.

6:48 pm IST: Parthiv Patel has been dropped from the 16-member Test squad vs Bangladesh. Wriddhiman Saha returns after a glorious double century for Rest of India in the Irani Trophy recently.

6:38 pm IST: Jasprit Bumrah is expected to play a key role in the third and deciding India vs England T20 in Bangalore tomorrow. Bumrah has underplayed the umpiring blunders in the 2nd T20 in Nagpur which India won on the last ball and by five runs.

6:27 pm IST: Meanwhile, sports minister Vijay Goel has been trolled for a photo-op that did not go down well in social media.

6:18 pm IST: Bangladesh recently played a two-Test series in New Zealand and lost both matches by 7 and 9 wickets, respectively.

6:14 pm IST: The Bangladesh team will play a practice match against India A at the Gymkhana Ground in Secunderabad from Feb 5-6.

5:53 pm IST: The BCCI CEO Rahul Johri is chairing the selection committee meeting. He joined on teleconference from Mumbai.

5:52 pm IST: Bangladesh have toured India four times -- 1990, 1998, 2006 and 2016. However, they have never played a Test match in India.

5:48 pm IST: The selection commitee is headed by former India wicket-keeper MSK Prasad.

5:24 pm IST: When the T20 and ODI squad was selected for the England series, Amitabh Chaudhary was also barred from attending the selection committee meeting by the Lodha committee. As per reforms suggested by the Lodha panel, Amitabh Chaudhary does not qualify to be a BCCI official due to tenure cap.

Amitabh Chaudhary of Jharkhand has been functioning as BCCI joint secretary until Monday’s Supreme Court order on formation of a four-member administrative panel under ex-CAG Vinod Rai (BCCI)

5:22 pm IST: Interestingly, Amitabh Chaudhary is one of the three officials chosen by the Supreme Court to represent BCCI in the ICC meeting in Dubai next month.

5:12 pm IST: The new BCCI bosses met in Mumbai earlier today. Vinod Rai, ex-CAG, is heading a four-member panel of administrators.

5 pm IST: The BCCI selection committee meeting for the one off Test against Bangladesh was delayed by four hours after joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhary was found ineligible to convene the meeting.

The meeting was supposed to be held at 12 noon but was delayed by four hours as Chaudhary, who was present at the five star facility, was not allowed as per chief of Committee of Administrators Vinod Rai’s instruction.

4:45 pm IST: It was around 12 noon Chaudhary was told that he has to wait as he is not eligible to attend the meeting. It was Rahul Johri, the CEO who convened the meeting by video conferencing.

“Amitabh Chaudhary had called a senior selection committee meeting in Delhi today to select the squad against Bangladesh. Vinod Rai and Co have immediately swung in and barred him from doing anything. The CEO is directly convening the meeting via video conference from Mumbai,” a BCCI source, who was witness to every incident here.

4:30 pm IST: All was not well was understood when BCCI mandarins broke for lunch with one of the selectors Sarandeep Singh was not even around.

3 pm IST: Some of the waiting media members were told that meeting will start at 3 pm but then around 3:30 pm Sarandeep was seen entering the hotel and looked clueless about when the meeting will start.

Today’s incident proved that Chaudhary probably is not authorised to function as joint secretary and will go to Dubai as BCCI representative only as he has a thorough background knowledge that investment banker Vikram Limaye will be needing for future meetings.
