India, on the other hand, won four back-to-back matches at the start of the tournament. But they lost to Australia and South Africa before winning a virtual shoot-out against New Zealand. India then ousted defending champions Australia in the semi-final to qualify for their second summit clash in 12 years.

This will be India’s only second Women’s Cricket World Cup final after losing the previous one in 2005 to Australia.
