At stumps on Day 1, Ajinkya Rahane, returning from a finger injury, was batting on 45 at the other end, having played second fiddle to his skipper in their 122-run fourth wicket partnership. Earlier, Murali Vijay registered his ninth Test hundred.
This is the first time that Bangladesh will play in India in the longest format of the sport, 17 years since gaining their Test status in 2000. Bangladesh played their first ever Test match against India at home in 2000.
