Manhas to lead Delhi in Ranji Trophy

Senior batsman Mithun Manhas was named captain of Delhi team for the first two matches of Ranji Trophy Super League starting on November 1.

Manhas, who is also leading the Delhi Twenty20 side in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, was picked to lead the team by the selection committee headed by former India opener Chetan Chauhan.
Delhi will be without the star quartet of openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir and pacers Ashish Nehra and Ishant Sharma.

The Team: Mithun Manhas (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli,
Rajat Bhatia, Chetnya Nanda, Gaurav Chhabra, Punit Bisht,
Pradeep Sangwan, Parwinder Awana, Sumit Narwal, Pawan Suyal, Vikas Mishra, Chetan Sharma, Aditya Jain and Mayank Tehlan.

MEG Bangalore win

Riding on Jiten Metaei’s solitary goal, MEG Bangalore beat AOC Secundrabad in the qualifying match of Durand Cup underway at the Ambedkar Stadium. With this, Bangalore have qualified for the quarter final league round. They will now meet holders Churchill Brothers on Oct 27 and the will take on Army Red on Oct 29.

The entry to the stadium is free through the tournament. The man- draw matches will kickoff at 5pm and will be played under the flood lights.

Yogesh to lead

Former international defender Yogesh Kumar will lead a 20-member Delhi State Sub-Junior team in the COCA-COLA- 33rd Sub-Junior National Football Championship for Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy to be held at at Haldwani from October 21 to 27.

Orissa trounce Delhi

Veterans’ tennis begins today

A veterans tournament with five lakh prize money begins in the Capital from Sunday. Close to 100 players are expected to participate in three categories – 45+, 55+ and 65+. R E Sudarshan Rao from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu's F Settu and S Parekh of Maharsahtra are the top seeds in the three events respectively.
