The Versova police on Wednesday registered the statement of model Leena Kapoor after she forwarded an application alleging that International Cricket Council (ICC) elite panel umpire Asad Rauf had had a relationship with her but denied the same later on.

The model had submitted an application to the zonal deputy commissioner of police Pratap Dighavkar on Monday stating the same following which the Versova police was directed to record her statement.

Meanwhile, Kapoor claimed that she had received several threat calls since Tuesday after she first approached police.

"Since Tuesday, I received at least 12 calls from two different numbers of Mumbai and Delhi. The unknown person threatened to bump me off if I don't stop pursuing the case. The person claims to be Rauf's friend," she said.

Kapoor has alleged in her statement that Rauf had also claimed that he would buy a flat and car for her.

Rauf stopped taking her calls a few weeks back and refused to recognize her, following which she submitted an application to the DCP.

PTI reports from Lahore: Rauf admitted that the photographs of the two were real, but denied having a relationship with her.

"I am 56 and happily married with two kids and at my age how can I promise to marry anyone else? I don't know why she is doing this but if she continues to defame me and cause my family pain, I will take legal action against her," Rauf said in Lahore.

He told reporters that he would appear before the Indian police if summoned over the issue. "I have committed no crime so I am not afraid of facing an inquiry in this regard," he said.
