The Mohali franchise has roped in three Punjab Ranji Trophy players — VRV Singh, Uday Kaul and Karan Goel — after signing up several overseas players along with the ones contracted to the BCCI. The franchise now have a total of 13 players on their rolls and need to sign up three more players to have a mandatory 16-member squad for the league.
While VRV Singh falls under the Ranji Trophy category, the other two have been placed in u-22 category, leaving the franchise to scout for two more players in this category.
The inclusion of VRV Singh in the squad would further bolster Mohali’s pace battery, comprising Bret Lee, Sreessanth and Irfan Pathan. The availability of left-handed Karan Goel will provide the team with an opening option — the area team could struggle with.
Mohali: Yuvraj Singh, M Jayawardene, S Sreesanth, Irfan Pathan, Ramesh Powar, Piyush Chawla, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Simon Katich, Kumar Sangakkara, Brett Lee, VRV Singh, Karan Goel and Uday Kaul.
