Riding on stellar form, Madhya Pradesh wicketkeeper-batsman Naman Ojha has been selected for the Indian Test squad that is currently touring England for the five-match Investec Test.
According to the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, Ojha is expected to leave for England by August 4 to join the squad for the fourth Test, which starts from August 7 at Manchester.
Ojha, got a call after the remarkable feat of scoring three back to back centuries during India "A" tour Down Under. During the tour, he has smashed an unbeaten 219, a 101 not out and 110 averaging 430 runs in three innings.
When contacted, Ojha said, "I got the news from Sanjay Pateria."
“I don't know how to express my feelings. To play a Test match is a matter of great pride for all cricketers. I am extremely lucky to have been selected in the team and if I get the chance to play for India, I will try to give it my best.”
About his top form and variation in conditions, he said, "I am not worried about variation in condition as if I get a chance, will try to maintain the same batting form."
Ojha had earlier made a brief appearance during the India tour of Zimbabwe in 2010. He made his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Sri Lanka at Harare on June 5, 2010, but his innings lasted seven balls and he scored only one run. In the IPL, he batted well for Sunrisers Hyderabad throughout the tournament.
