Ravi Shastri, cricketer-turned-commentator, took to Twitter to congratulate the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its landslide win in the recently concluded Uttar Pradesh elections through his trademark ‘tracer bullet’ comment and got a witty response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shastri said on Thursday that the Prime Minister and BJP president Amit Shah’s efforts took the party beyond the 300-seat mark like a “tracer bullet”.
PM Modi responded to Shastri sportingly by replying with an analogy that the commentator often uses. His tweet was liked by 16,000 people and retweeted almost 7,000 times by Friday.
Thank you. UP polls did not quite go down to the wire. But, at the end of the day democracy is indeed the real winner! :) https://t.co/suoTqZtXit— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 16, 2017
