The Indian cricket squad for the forthcoming seven-match One-day series against Australia will be picked in Chennai on October 15. “The ODI squad is to be picked on the 15th at Chennai,” Cricket Board sources said on Monday. The selection is keenly awaited following the team's dismal display at the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa where it got knocked out in the preliminary stage itself.
The ODI series would start with the day encounters in Vadodara on October 25 and end with the final day/night clash at the D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on November 11.
Raids on to nab Gagandeep’s killers
Meerut: Police on Monday conducted raids in the city and nearby areas to nab the persons who shot dead cricketer Gagandeep Singh outside a 'kebab' shop here three days ago.
A senior police officer said they have conducted raids to hunt for the two accused, who shot dead Singh and the shop owner Shahnawaz over a row. So far one person, Rahul, has been arrested. Police have claimed to have recovered the weapon used in the crime, a .32 bore revolver, from him.
Goswami stars in Nayudu opener
Kolkata: Bengal skipper Shreevats Goswami scored 53 as Bengal piled 251 for the loss of nine wickets against Punjab on the opening day of their Under-22 C K Nayudu cricket tournament here on Monday. Electing to bat, Bengal failed to register any big partnership losing wickets at regular intervals. Shreevats built the foundation for Bengal but the wicketkeeper-batsman could not consolidate on his innings.
