Newly appointed Pakistan selector Ejaz Ahmed has said the national team needs to a full-time batting and fielding coach to improve its performances.
Ejaz also said the Pakistan Cricket Board had accepted his request to let him continue working as coach at the National Cricket Academy while functioning as a member of the newly formed national selection committee.
Ejaz, who was part of the 1992 World Cup winning squad, stated that Pakistan definitely needs a person who can combine the roles of working with the batters as well as improving the fielding standard of the team.
"I have spoken to the PCB about this and they are fully aware of my views on this matter," he told a cricket website.
The former middle-order batsman also blamed the defeats at the hands of Sri Lanka in the on-going Test series to a wrong mindset on part of the players.
"It was a very disappointing defeat and I blame it on the Pakistani mindset where they went into the days play in a very relaxed frame of mind," Ejaz said.
