Pakistan Cricket Board might be facing financial crunch due to cancellation and postponement of events owing to security situation in the country but this has not stopped it from sending a big contingent of officials to watch the one-day series against Australia in Dubai.
The PCB’s move to spend money on sending its officials, governing council members and even some government dignitaries to Dubai has come in for severe criticism in sections of the national media.
‘The Jang´ reported that despite claiming a financial shortfall due to cancellation and postponement of series, the Board had sent its officials in business class to Dubai and also given them a lavish daily allowance to spend.
Apparently PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt has called all the directors of the Board including Saleem Altaf, Javed Miandad, and Wasim Bari to Dubai to watch the matches while some other officials were already there to prepare for the series.
The Chairman has also approved that members of the governing council will go and watch two matches either in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
The Board is already spending a fortune on hiring the stadiums for the series of five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match, providing hospitality to teams and officials, hiring locals and on providing top security for the teams.
