Miffed with Faisal Iqbal after he openly criticised selectors for omitting from the tour of England, the Pakistan Cricket Board has warned the batsman that such an indiscretion would not be tolerated in future.
Sources said the board has accepted Faisal's explanation to the notice sent to him in which he was asked to explain his statements in which he criticised the selection policy for the England tour.
Faisal was a surprise omission from the Test squad for the England tour and said he was shocked at being dropped and the selectors should explain what criteria they followed while deciding to omit him.
"Faisal has basically told the board that the he didn't contact the media and they contacted him and some of the things he had said had been quoted out of context," one source said.
"Faisal's explanation has been accepted by the board but the batsman has been warned to be very careful in future as he is a contracted player and can't give statements to the media," the source added.
Indications are that the board is also pondering on how to deal with former captain Javed Miandad who also gave critical statements on the selection policy despite being Director-General (cricket) in the PCB.
Miandad has said that he is well aware of the service rules of the board and he is free to speak on cricket matters that affect Pakistan cricket.
