A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Allahabad HC seeking a direction to the sports ministry to get the BCCI registered or set up a separate body for development of cricket in India.

The PIL has been filed by a UP cadre Indian Police Service official, Amitabh Thakur, and his wife, Nutan Thakur, and is slated for hearing on Wednesday. The litigation says the ministry has given recognition to various National Sports Federations (NSFs) but BCCI is not part of it.
