Ponting was walking to the pavilion when Khan said something and soon both players were snapping at each other. Umpire Billy Bowden intervened to cool down the players.

Ponting and Michael Clarke's wickets allowed India to somewhat tighten the noose on Australia as the visitors reached 179/3 at tea on the first day of the first Test match at the PCA stadium on Friday.
