India pacer Praveen Kumar had to apologise to a local doctor for allegedly man-handling him following a dispute, which was reported to the police in Meerut.
According to Sadar Bazar police, Shantanu, a physician with Civil Lines Subharti Hospital, has accused Praveen of beating him up under the influence of alcohol after his car splashed on the cricketer water spilled at the roadside.
Praveen was there in connection with obtaining an Arm's license.
The doctor said Praveen, who was accompanied by his friends, felt that it was a deliberate attempt to splash water on him and picked up fight.
"I had gone to purchase glasses to a shop at P L Sharma Road on Thursday, when some water splashed on Praveen and his friends, who were standing by the roadside," Shantanu said.
"When I was purchasing glasses, Praveen and his friends reached there and started man-handling me with allegation that I intentionally did it.
"They were under the influence of alcohol and they also broke some glasses in the shop to irk the shopkeeper and they reported the matter to police, who called Praveen. Praveen then apologised for his actions.
"I am not taking legal action because nation's pride is associated with Praveen as he represent the country in cricket," he added.
