Riding on useful contributions from the middle and lower order, Gujarat ended their first innings at 379 on the second day of their Super League match against the Railways at the Karnail Singh Stadium.
Despite the early dismissal of top-scorer Bhavik Thaker who made 67, Gujarat never seemed in discomfort as debutants Pratharesh Parmar (42) and Rajdeep Darbar (25) showed resilience in the face of some quality bowling from pacer Krishnakant Upadhyay.
It was a swashbuckling 57-ball 65 from No. 10 batsmen Siddharth Trivedi that took his side to a total that would pose a challenge to the opposition's batting lineup. He hit as many as 11 boundaries before Shailender Gehlot struck timber to end the innings.
For the Railways, Upadhyay picked up three wickets including that of Darber while Gehlot bagged two for his efforts. The hosts will now bank on their batsmen to deliver and chase out what may well prove to be a formidible target on a slow pitch.
Brief Scores: Gujarat 379 all out (Thaker 67, Trivedi 65; Upadhyay 3/98). ). Railways 64/3 in 29 ovs (Siddarth Trivedi 2/15)
